The Maine Aviation Historical Society was founded to collect, document and preserve the rich
aviation history of the State of Maine.

Civil, commercial, military and recreational flying have always been an important part of Maine
history.  Our goal is to preserve the history of the people and events of the past.  From the
earliest balloon flights, to barn stormer pilots to space travel, Maine has been an active player.

Our collection of artifacts and memorabilia are displayed at the Maine Air Museum at 98
Maine Avenue, Bangor, Maine.  The museum is located at Bangor International Airport and as a
point of interest, the museum building is a former cold war era missile assembly and
maintenance facility.

                                              We need your help!

One of our biggest needs is a good aircraft for the Museum that can sit outside and
draw people in.  We are doing a fund-raising to purchase such an aircraft.  There is an
F-86-D for sale in Vermont for $22,000 which we would like to get.  However, that might
be sold at any time.  However, there are other display aircraft that become available but
we need to put together an aircraft fund so we can bid on such an aircraft.  If you can
help by donating any amount to the society we would be much closer to this goal.  If
you would like to donate, please
send your tax deductible contributions to:

                                      LEO BOYLE MEMORIAL FUND
                                              1925 - 2007

This memorial fund has been created by the Boyle family and our members
as a tribute to one of our founders.  Leo was well known throughout the
aviation community of Maine & New England, and we honor his early
initiative and foresight in recognizing that Maine's aviation heritage should
be preserved and available as a research and educational source for
generations to enjoy.

Any donation to this fund is also tax deductible and should be forwarded to:
